| What do you think of celeb sites calling skinny celebs fat and then critaszing when they loose weight? Im not going to lie i did have a specific website in mind (one that has a very similar name to a famous heiress) Im fed of the way they critasize celebs like mischa barton saying they are fat and then when the enevitable weight lose occurs they critasize that as well. It even works the other way around, Perez used to call jessica simpson too skinny and now shes gained weight he calls her fat. I know there are lot of people that critasize the media for teenage girls obsessions with weight, but in this case I think it might be true. What do you think??? |
| You know to be honest I think it is totally the medias fault. OK yes it is there job to broadcast and give us info and the goss on celebs but they over dramatise every thing. I mean why should they have any right to criticise others, famous or not. Thats like someone you know telling their friend your sister looks fat. And yes we all have bitching sessions but it is as if they purpously go out of their way to make the celebs feel bad. And to make it fifty times worse we teenage girls especially look up to the various celebrities like Mischa, Paris and Nicole. We see them under pressure from the media to lose weight and we instantly want to look like them. I don't know what it is but we want to be them even when they look like stick insects. In my opinion it is the media trying to sell their magazines etc by making catchy slogans that happen to be really unfair and hurtful. Yeah so thats my opinion! Any one agree? |
| Why is it more common for people to view fat male celebs as cute and fat female celebs as ugly? Sometimes people describe chubby/overweight male celebrities like Seth Rogen or Jack Black as being cute or even attractive. I remember reading a magazine article from years ago which described actor John Goodman as being attractive in a "cuddly teddy bear" sort of way. But why is it when it comes to chubby/overweight female celebrities like Rosie O'Donnell, Roseanne, or Mo'Nique, people get all grossed out and call them ugly and nasty? I'm not saying that all people feel this way, but in general it seems that there's a greater tendency for people to find fat male celebs more attractive than fat female celebs. | I was just having this conversation with my boyfriend, because i said something about Liv Tyler, and her sister came up, who is a plus-sized model. And i started talking then about how these celebrities can NEVER win....if they lose too much weight, then the magazines say they are too thin and make a fuss, but when they gain 15 lbs, its like the end of the world, or they're preggers or something. Its rediculous. They write about male celebs on occasion, but there is definitely the double-standard there, and yes, i believe it is wrong. I think the media is definitely part of the problem. Is it easy to blame the media? Sure, but in this case, i can believe that it does have an affect on how women see themselves, and how men view women as well. |

| Actually they lose weight, but that doesn't mean they lose just fat. When people don't eat, the metabolism slows down and they also lose a lot of muscle, sometimes over half of their weight loss is actually muscle. This ends up making the person skinny but with a high body fat percentage. When they gain the weight back (which they do) they end up fatter than they were to start with. I used to think starving yourself was the only way to lose weight and really regret it now. Take it from someone who knows. |
